30.01.10 Our first Saturday games day proved to be a great success with big games of Warhammer 40,000 and Crossfire (Vietnam) for all to enjoy. The morning in Vietnam was a bit bloody but after lunch when Jon got the rules right it settled a bit, with both sides getting seriously bogged down in the debris of a ruined helicopter (curse that double six!)
24.01.10 Congratulations to Bruce (1st place), and Jon and Ian Stewart (4th) at the Field of Glory Doubles competition in Usk (Godendag 2010). Nice to see a high standard set by Wycombe Warband for the coming year! Well done!
20.11.09 There was a very encouraging turnout at Wycombe Warband's first meeting at our new venue, the National Film & Television School, Beaconsfield, with games of Field of Glory, Flames of War and Warhammer 40,000 played. It was great to see some new faces and some old ones who haven't played for a while. We were impressed with the tables and pleasantly surprised at the bar prices. And special thanks to Jon for the impromptu film show of the Avatar trailer!
27.10.09 A big thank you to Bruce, Jer and the legion of volunteers who were recruited to help organise Roll Call 2009 (www.bhgs.co.uk) and make it such a success. Roll Call is a wargaming event run by Wycombe Warband every year at the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe. It has has over a hundred competitors and seven different periods. The event ran very smoothly even though the printer failed to work half an hour before the Saturday start! Congratulations go to first prize winners and to Phil Powell for ensuring Saturday night's revelry continued well into the early hours of Sunday morning.
The local boys put up a pretty good show. Well done Andy Kitcher (9th in Field of Glory Biblical), Jon Houchin (3rd in Field of Glory Biblical), and Paul Cummins (4th in Field of Glory Medieval).
